In terms of style, Javier Flores is drawn to metaphysical symbolism and socio-political based art. The work that he is creating for “Urban Nature” will be a combination of the two, done in spray paint and mixed media. It is the intention of this body of work to connect nature with contemporary socio-political themes, using geometry, art nouveau-inspired decoration and figurative elements.

The inspiration for this body of work concerns the title of “Urban Nature,” but chooses a specific line of socio-political influence, such as the lowering population of bees. It is Flores’ belief that aesthetics are an integral part of art, but content that specifically calls attention to the issues of our day or the past is significantly more important.
