A Denver native and graffiti aficionado since childhood, Wiser has launched himself into the graffiti scene as an artist who brings an elegant style and flair every time.

Born and raised in Colorado, Sophie spent the majority of her life painting and drawing. She is currently enrolled as a senior at the Metropolitan State College of Denver, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. Her emphasis is oil painting although Sophie also enjoys creating large murals and incorporating aspects of printmaking, mixed media and spray paint into her work.

Sophie’s body of work tends to juxtapose comical characters with social commentary and events. Her influences range from Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Keith Haring, graffiti artists, muralists (i.e., Judy Baca) and street art. Read the rest of this entry »

Featured Artist - Rumley and Robinson

Ian Rumley and Todd Robinson are both painting majors at Metropolitan State College of Denver. They studied mural techniques under art instructor and muralist Carlos Fresquez and have been designing and collaborating on murals over the past year.

They are also independently working in fine art, tattoo design and other media. Ian’s urban/street art influences and Todd’s organic aesthetic combine in Denver Botanic Gardens’ “Urban Nature” exhibit. Born in Los Angeles to an engineer and an artist, Mac has been drawing and studying art independently since childhood. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding Mexican and Chicano culture of the American Southwest, religious art, pin-up art, graffiti and a wide range of artists including Caravaggio, Mucha, Vermeer and Moebius, he began painting with acrylics as well as painting graffiti in the early 90s. He has since worked with a consistent theme of realistic portraits using bold and pastel colors. Read the rest of this entry »
